The sun rises on Ambassador
and kisses all the Pointes
Wyandotte is not too far behind
It travels up the Rouge
just like it did in '67
like nothing happened and it doesn't mind

It dances right down Woodward
and Grand River for a while
playful in its daily ascent
it skips over the Southfield,
dodges cars on Telegraph
and winks at all the gridwork cement, and -

Well, I say there isn't one to be found.

When the April showers patter
and the grey begins to scatter
and the tulips push their way through Holland's soil
Once again we feel the reason,
the logic of the season
the purpose giving meaning to our toil

And when the lakes begin to glisten
you just have to stop & listen
to the herons and the cranes alive in song
seems like every living creature
calls to us just like a preacher
