CHORUS: Running down the road of life You leave a lot of dreams behind Broken visions, token schemes I’m open to the good I’m finding Every river, every mountain Every cloud calls me nearer I don't know where I’m going with you Lord But I’m glad I’m here. Looking back when I fell back and What it took to get on the track and Where this pilgrim is from where he planned I know I’m not all I could be but I’m Growing strong and steadily and I’m Leaving what I left in his hand. CHORUS A common man full of plans — I watched what did and didn't pan, I saw who won and who had to pay For what it's worth, for what it's not For most of everything I've got I'd look you in the eye and say "he's the way" CHORUS
2.
I do believe everything will be alright no matter just how dark it seems `cause I've been in the tunnel of love where you can't see your hand and it's push and shove and you're frightened for your life crying "It's enough!" but then it's over, and that's it. CHORUS: And everything's alright, baby, it's alright and it's gonna be alright — just wait and see. Everything's alright, baby, it's alright it's gonna be alright for you and me. I've had a friend or two (perhaps a lot like you) got lost in someone's crazy dream and I never thought I'd see `em again I sent a prayer in the air, it was blown by the wind one day my phone rang twice and a voice on the end said "It's over, and I'm back." CHORUS Don't give up — you know God knows what He's doing Don't give in — oh, you know He's listening Don't give up — He works everything for good Don't give out — I know one day you're gonna sing VERSE JAM —> CHORUS Don't give up… Don't give in… Don't give out. © 7/15/2000 by Bob Young

It's Joy 04:54
I don't know when it begins but when it's under my skin I've gotta…smile Maybe I'm thinking of you or of all that you do for this…child It's unexplainable, it's uncontainable, I think it is… It's inexpressible, it's irrepressible CHORUS: I think it's joy, it could be joy, Oh yeah it's joy I think it's joy, it could be joy, Oh yeah it's joy In the pit of despair it's known to follow me there and make me…laugh Deep in the shadows of doubt it can carry me out in it's…grasp It's unexplainable, it's uncontainable, I think it is… It's inexpressible, it's irrepressible CHORUS It's in the smile of a child It's in the wind blowing wild It's in the kiss of my wife It's from the Lord of my life CHORUS

I'm With You 03:36
5.
I know you You know me So much has happened to us Baby, when times were bad We made it through We won't go the way of others Bound together by a band For as much as I love you, You'll always be my friend. The passion The promise Time wears away emotions But baby, I'll be your constant In this changing world I don't know about the others `cause you're always on my mind And as much as I love you, You'll always be my friend. There may come a time When I can't remember What it felt like When we first kissed But I know It'll be a warm December When I'm far from your side- I just can't resist To love you Forever And I know your love is true Baby, I'll stand by you Through the coming storms I know we will go the distance Hand in hand to the end `cause as much as I love you, You'll always be my friend. As much as I love you, You'll always be my friend.

Just Enough 04:36
August trees leaning over the road in the rain to drink your shower Lightning flash up ahead enlightens my pain I’m in your power CHORUS: Just as it should be Hungry and thirsty With just enough fear and hope In you. Raindrops spatter my windows and I can’t see (at least not clearly) Thunder echoes a mile or more from me “I love you dearly” CHORUS I look up but I can’t see through the clouds – Are they dust on your feet underneath your feet I look up I can’t see, but I can feel I feel your love falling down on me CHORUS
7.
I used to do as I was told But who's to tell when I get old? I’m not so sure `cause many things I used to say Have turned out another way And now I’m not so sure But I’ve always been sure of you... Oh, I’ve always been sure of you. Men will come and men will go — How many men before the world will know? I’m not so sure. There's a wise man, there's a fool, There's a boy who prays in school (or does he — I’m not so sure) But I’ve always been sure of you... Oh, I’ve always been sure of you. I’m sure you know my voice. I’m sure of one small choice. Who's to tell what lies ahead? Who's to say what's not been said already? I’m not so sure. I read the signs, I hear the news — What's the world really got to lose? I’m not so sure. But I’ve always been sure of you Oh my lord, I’ve always been sure of you Oh, I’ve always been sure of you.

Sylvia Ann 06:18
M-mm fourteen miles to go City eyes on country road Sylvia Ann I'm coming home M-mm fourteen miles to glance My mind begins to dance With Sylvia Ann This could be my last chance And I want for you To treat my warm heart right tonight Where there's a guitar playing I'll be staying up And out of sight. M-mm fourteen miles to where I can really breathe the air Sylvia Ann Would you, could you care? And I want for you To treat my cool heart right tonight And harbor all my darkest secrets In your neon night Sylvia, Sylvia, Sylvia Ann... Sylvia, Sylvia, Sylvia Ann... M-mm fourteen miles away Would you wait on me today Sylvia Ann? I'll be there right away.

Everything I say you twist against me; Everything you do fuels my fire. How can there be peace with all this history? How can there be love without desire? I say that I forgive you - I believe I do forgive you - But I wouldn't trust you far as I could THROW YOU OUT MY DOOR. CHORUS: What's a boy to do? What's a boy to do? You've stolen everything that never really gave me what I really needed anyway - What's this boy to do? Everything you say is indirectly; Everything I do is on the side. How can there be joy with all this misery? How can there be love with all this pride? I say all is forgiven - I believe all is forgiven - But there really is no livin' When you’re CONDEMNED TO THE CORE. CHORUS You want me to beg forgiveness for the wrongs I never did? You want me to bow and worship and let you doddle on my kids? You want me to buy some Hallmark card and fake my jubilation and bring my presence to some GA-LA EV-ENT when I was on the far side of the nation so I gave my prompt reply but you had the NERVE TO LIE CHORUS I say that I forgive you - I believe I do forgive you -

Empty Shoes 06:19
I suppose I'll read about it in the papers If I don't hear from some long-forgotten friend wanting just to know if I am doing alright and if my heart is really on the mend with the fact I'll never see your face again... I've been thinking for a while how I would answer - What I wouldn't say (and maybe what I would). Man, it seems like every Tom and Dick and Harry Has some tale about how you once did them some good, But I won't burst their balloon (though I could). Yeah, you were larger than life for a while You had that pat on the back and winning smile But somewhere beyond the Coupe de Ville in that big mansion on the hill something died along with the will and now there are just empty shoes to fill. I have often wondered if you think about me in a way that isn't tainted by the lies; if there's any spark of pride in what I'm doing, if there's any hint of pleasure and surprise, perhaps a glint of understanding in your eyes. Yeah, you were larger than life for a while - You had that pat on the back and winning smile, But somewhere beyond the Coupe de Ville in that big mansion on the hill something died along with the will and now there are just empty shoes to fill. I never gave you what you really wanted But I learned to let you be the man you are and though that never seemed to bring us back together I didn't need you as my superstar (and you never really needed that car) Yeah, you were larger than life for a while - You had that pat on the back and winning smile, But somewhere beyond the Coupe de Ville in that big mansion on the hill something died along with the will and now there are just empty shoes to fill. Now there are just empty shoes...

If I could heal half the hurt I’ve given If I could crucify the side that just won't die I’d be a better man, a better man Who fell short of the sky If I could gather every stranger that I’ve spit on If I could be a friend who never walked on by I’d be a better man, I’d be a better man Who fell short of the sky Make-believe it never happened – No, I can't buy another lie But then, it's not remorse That changes the course Of a man who falls short of the sky Tomorrow is a luxury Today will take on wings and fly Yesterday is filled With tales of noble men Who fell short of the sky But there was one Who climbed above the stars And only stopped by here to die And if we follow him When our last hope grows dim We'll understand just why He chose to love us so And lift us up to go Somewhere beyond the sky.

Fly Away 05:20
The sky above is closing in today everything around me now feels gray if only I could find the words to say (you wouldn't want to hear it anyway) You never really wanted me to be and I could never hope to make you see and even if somehow we could agree there's something on the wind that's calling me... CHORUS: I'm gonna fly away, bye bye I'm leaving you today, there's just no other way I've got to fly away, bye bye Even though I'm on my own I know I'm not alone, bye bye... It's funny how the world looks so clear soaring high above the atmosphere and even though I'm scared, I feel no fear (and I don't even mind that you're not here) CHORUS Even though I'm on my own I know I'm not alone, bye bye...

about

This a collection of the best songs from Bob's "So Low" (Feb 2008) and "Sky High" (Mar 2008) collections. In a frenzy of creativity and insomnia over a six week period as Bob's dad lay dying in a hospital room, these songs were recorded.

Packed with brutal honesty, extreme highs and lows, and seasoned with a bit of every style of music Bob grew up with, this collection will connect with your heart and mind, and just might help heal your soul.
